Nutrition is super important in your baby’s development, therefore snacks are a key part of their meal plan and contribute towards meeting their nutritional needs.
When you make snacks aim to include at least 2 different food groups:
1.Proteins–beans, pulses, fish, eggs, meat and other proteins
2.Fruit & Vegetables–fresh, frozen or natural juice
3.Starchy Carbohydrates–potatoes, bread, rice, pasta and other starchy carbohydrates
4.Dairy and alternatives
5.Oils and spreads
Here is a list of our top 6 healthy snack ideas that are nutritious and contain at least 2different food groups and are suitable for 12+ month old babies.
1.Cucumbers, toasted pitta bread and hummus
2.Mashed avocado on whole wheat bread
3.Rice cakes or crackers with almond or peanut butter with half a banana
4.Cheese cubes with halved cherry tomatoes
5.Fruit smoothie
6.Frozen fruit yoghurt pops
